Bite injury

A bite injury is a wound caused by the bite of an animal, usually a dog or cat. Such injuries can be superficial or deep and carry the risk of infection, as bite wounds can trap bacteria in the wound. If a bite injury is suspected, a veterinarian should be consulted to clean and dress the wound and administer antibiotics if necessary.
